America’s Job Centers of California
Finding a job after leaving the military can sometimes be challenging. Fortunately, America’s Job Centers of California (AJCC) offer veterans and their dependents services that can assist you in entering the civilian workforce.
The local AJCC has Local Veteran Employment Representatives (LVER) and Disabled Veteran Outreach Program Specialists (DVOP) to assist you with services unique to veterans.
Some services include:
- Employment Services
- Job Training
- Vocation Education
- Supportive Services
- Participation in community college programs
Veterans Priority of Service
Veterans are entitled to receive priority of services in job referrals and referrals to training by AJCC staff as well as other employment related services. Veterans with disabilities receive the highest priority in all employment services.
CalJOBS – Veterans Priority of Service
For veterans only, the Employment Development Department (EDD) places a 24-hour hold on job orders entered in the California Job Openings Browse System, CalJOBS (Online job and resume labor exchange system). The EDD or partner staff screens and refers those veterans who request a referral on a suppressed job listing during the 24-hour hold. The process consists of a résumé search and only those eligible veteran résumés that meet the employer’s minimum qualifications are forwarded to the employer.
Also, through CalJOBS℠, veterans can view a wide variety of job listings located throughout California, and if qualified, refer themselves to employers for consideration.
